Some major catch up

Posted by: littlepinky82 on: February 18, 2011

So it’s 12:53am on a Saturday morning and I’m up and decided to update the blog.   It’s been a good while since I’ve written.  Nothing too much has been going on here except school.  Classes have been going well. I’m retaking Spanish 1 and intro to law enforcement (not retaking this it’s a new class).  Both are coming a long fine.  I have to soon start working on a research paper for the law enforcement class and I have an idea or two of what I’m going to be writing about.  We had at least two snow times.  Christmas day and sometime last month we had another huge snow day for our area. It was like what we had on Christmas day.

I tried a new Asian restaurant down the street that has Thai, Japanese and Chinese food all together.  I just got their spicy chicken with rice and an egg roll and if you go at a certain time for lunch you can get soup with your meal and I’ve tried their hot and spicy and it’s so good.

This is the vanilla cupcake body lotion from Bodycology.  They’re a great brand and I’ve tried now two of their body lotions. It starts out a bit thick but when your rub it in your skin it turns so moist. I love it for my dry skin and mine can get so dry especially in the winter and this winter I’ve been finding new ways to moist my skin.  The moisture stays in my hands for a good long while. At least a good hour or so and the scent the longest I’ve noticed it being around is for 2 hrs.  So it’s really great. I also have vanilla cupcake body spray from bodycology that smells wonderful and lasts a good while on your skin. It also makes a nice air freshener too. I did buy their shower gel but I haven’t tried it yet but am looking forward to it.

This is a really great line to use if you’re a fan of the Dylan’s Candybar line.  This scent is very much like the Dylan Candybar’s line with their vanilla cupcake scent. I also tried their coconut lime one and it smells so good.  I really recommend their products.  I’m also loving the “Yes to Carrots” line as well.  I’ve been using a shower gel for natural to dry skin and it’s been really great for my dry skin and also a moisturizer body lotion and have been enjoying it a lot.  I’m also now in love with cream blushes. I’ve seen people mention them on Youtube and saw one from Maybeline and it was a small bottle of it so I decided to try it and really like it a lot.  And also a mate powder I’ve been using a lot lately. It’s nice compared to loose powder because it doesn’t look so cakey like you sometimes get with loose powder (I now days use that if I’m running errands or something like that).

Well I just wanted to do a little update since it’s been a while.  Not too much else going on besides my studies which are going fine.  I’m going to watch some more of a horror movie called “Ghost Train” with Oguri Shun (a Japanese actor and yes it’s a Japanese horror movie).  The weather here lately has been going back and forth between warm and cool and this weekend it’s going to be another nice weekend. Can’t wait to get out and enjoy the warm Sun.

Christmas & New Year’s

Posted by: littlepinky82 on: January 1, 2011

First off: Happy New Year!! It’s now 2011, so I’m looking forward to this new year.  I have about another week or two left of vacation, so that will be nice to just stay home and relax.  I am going out with friends Monday evening though for a nice get together before people have to go back to work and/or school.  So that will be nice.

Here’s our Christmas tree all decorated.  Same one we always use and have since I was a young kid living in Charlotte, NC.  So love this tree a lot. Lots of good memories with it from child hood of opening up presents and being with family. It’s not the exact same tree because we have had to get a new star over the yrs.

Our outside lights. I was able to take this with my Christmas present: an Iphone 4. It took this picture so great! My other phone’s camera wouldn’t have been able to do that.  So I love this camera (it’s a 5.0 megapixel camera).  The top window is my room. :-p

During the winter break my family and I tried this Mexican place that a friend of my parents have.  The food was so very good.  Sorry it’s to the side.

My friend Jenny and I (the one I’ve mentioned before) decided to exchange some yummy goodies for our Christmas present. This is what I baked her.  Some chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cup cookies, sugar cookies and a new cookie from the Food Network called White Snow ball cookies (or something a long those lines).  The sugar cookie recipe I got from the blog “Life of an American Mommy in Japan” that’s on my blog roll.  This recipe is Heaven. I so love it. It’s always a hit with my family and it’s pretty easy to make as well.  With the snowball cookie recipe you use a sugar cookie dough and I used half of the dough for that.  They turned out so good. My friend loved the cookies and I was happy and loved baking them.  She made me some brownies, peanut butter cookies and some lemon thing.  It was all so good and the brownies were just perfect and not too hard or too doughey. Just right. :)   It was really fun and inexpensive and honestly didn’t take that much time to do.

Our Christmas dinner.  We did have plans on Saturday to visit my grandmother, but we had a white Christmas and didn’t want to risk the weather.  So we were able to have our Christmas dinner.  We had a yummy baked ham and side dishes like sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, potato salad, mac n cheese.  Lots of yummy stuff.  It was nice to just sit and chat and have a good meal in relaxed clothes.  Oh the flowers if you’re wondering are from my father to my mother.  Their anniversary was earlier in the month (of Dec).

The front yard with our snow on Christmas day! We got some nice snow and people were told to stay inside unless it’s an emergency. It snowed for two days straight.  It was so nice and the first time our area had a white Christmas since 1986 (the yr before we moved to this general area).

Sausage Balls!! My father and I made these yesterday early evening. They didn’t take long at all and were just oh so good.  New Year’s Eve for me was just nice and quiet.  We grilled steak, had a baked potato and these sausage balls. Just so good.  I always love these and now I can make them.  I found them on food.com I believe.

So today for New Year’s day I’m just relaxing enjoying my time at home on this rainy day. It’s been raining since earlier this morning when it was a big storm with lots of lighting and everything.  Perfect day for staying in and just relaxing.  Happy New Year! Here’s to a great 2011!!

Break, snow, & more

Posted by: littlepinky82 on: December 15, 2010

So it’s been a while since I’ve written.  Not too much has happened yet.  I’ve finished with this term.  My exams went fine and I passed my environmental science class.  Yay.  I sadly have to retake Spanish. Sigh.  I thought I was passing with how the professor was totaling the grades.  She did it based on what you’ve done so far not in total.  I figured it out too late.  But that’s okay cause in the summer I’ll take Spanish 2 and just have that to work on.  I’m also in the spring taking another criminal justice class.  Something with law enforcement.  So everything is now just one term behind sadly. Sigh.  But I’m getting things done so that’s okay.

Besides school I’ve just been enjoying my winter break. It’s been nice to not worry about any assignments or studying for a while.

About a week ago a friend surprised me with some fudge she made. Oh gosh it was so good. I munched on it off and on while I was studying for exams and finishing up assignments.  It was rich but not to where you couldn’t eat it. Ya know? It reminded me of the fudge my grandmother used to make except hers was harder.

I don’t know how well this picture can be seen, but earlier this week we got some snow.  This was at the beginning earlier in the morning I believe around 9am.  It came down all day and we had a good inch or two of snow.  And lots of ice.  Schools closed around here of course.  Tonight we’re supposed to have some ice and bad weather too.  I saw it raining earlier but don’t know if anything has happened.  Schools have already closed to be safe. Here in the south snow comes once or twice a year usually in my area, so that’s why schools close.

Today my family technically exchanged gifts.  I just have to get my father something.  We usually get either one really nice gift or a couple of things.  Last Christmas I ordered a few items from Sephora I mentioned.  This year I got an Iphone 4.  I’ve only had it an afternoon, but so far I’ve enjoyed it and haven’t had any issues.  I did get a hard plastic case so if I drop it the glass of the phone won’t break and I also read that this helps with the issue of the signal and the phone.  My brother got a DS and a few games. He hasn’t gotten anything like that in a good while and my mother got a new mp3 player because her Ipod nano was dying.  She’s had it for a couple of years. I was surprised because mine is a first generation Ipod and still works perfect. Shrug.

Well I’m probably going to get my fathers some new pj’s and either a DVD or a CD player of some new Christmas music.  Maybe see if one of his favorite artist’s have out any new music (he mostly likes country like Willie Nelson, Allison Krause music like that).

So it’s getting late here at 12:34am and I’ve had a long day.  I hope you have a Merry Christmas and/or happy holiday’s no matter what you celebrate enjoy it. :)

Thanksgiving & finishing the term

Posted by: littlepinky82 on: November 30, 2010

So this past week was Thanksgiving here in the U.S. Last Thursday actually.  It was nice.  We usually go to my grandmother’s on my mother’s side, but she’s been in the hospital lately because of blood clots.  Don’t worry everything will be fine eventually.  :) So this year we went to my grandmother’s on my father’s side and it was nice because we haven’t been to hers for Thanksgiving in a good two years at least.  One aunt, her daughters (two), and my uncle and his wife (my aunt) and their son (the stepsons weren’t there) was over.  We had lots of great food and had our dinner at 3pm eastern.  I was so stuffed I couldn’t have any dinner except a little dessert is all we had that night.  We stayed until early Saturday evening just enjoying the company.  I sadly had this horrible cough that I’ve been fighting for almost a week now.  Thankfully it’s almost gone and I’m hoping it will be totally gone this next week.  I haven’t had any fever or anything like that at least. :)

So I hope you can see it well.  Ah so yummy. I just had a little bit of everything I was interested in and it filled up my plate and was so good.  When I came back home I did weigh myself and I was worried I would have gained something, but I worry about that whenever I’m away from home and my regular schedule and all.  I actually lost 7 lbs haha.  I was surprised to say the least.  Since then I’ve been trying to stay on a better schedule and usually eat earlier like when I was gone.  Before the trip I usually ate anywhere between 9-10pm which is pretty late…

Well other than the holiday nothing else has been really going on.  I went shopping at Kmart before the holiday and got a few winter shirts and some new pj stuff. Didn’t need any makeup or anything.   I did find this deodorant spray and I’ve never used one before and it works out great and smells like cotton candy I love it.  Well the next  nine days I’ll just be finishing up this term with last minute assignments and getting ready for finals.  I’m all registered for next term and just gotta pay.  I’m glad both my classes are online again. I enjoy them a lot I think.  Well just wanted to play catch-up.  I probably won’t blog again until after I finish my finals since from now til then I’ll be busy finishing up my assignments and studying for my exams.  Wish me luck!

New favorite (healthy?) lunch

Posted by: littlepinky82 on: November 9, 2010

So for the past year or so now I’ve been getting healthier and getting into working out.  I now love doing cardio and love eating healthy.  I’m slowly but surely getting into eating a more clean diet.  I did have a yummy home made egg salad sandwich yesterday but didn’t think to take a picture of it.  And a long with it a yummy salad.  I originally found this recipe at diet.com titled “Rainbow Pizza.”  It’s English muffin pizza.  You can make it as healthy (or not) as you want.  Since I haven’t had this before I didn’t want to add too much to it.  So I just kept it simple with some mozzarella  cheese and pepperoni slices. All you do is take the English muffin and open it up (use a knife to cut it open so it doesn’t crumble a part, that was my mistake with one heh heh thankfully I could still use it) and put on the pizza sauce and then your toppings.  With your oven set it for 350 degree’s and cook it for 10 min’s or until the cheese is melted.  My cheese never really got fully melted so when I thought it was cooked well enough I took it out.  Here’s a picture:

It was actually quite good and filling.  I used two muffins and was able to make three and a half (from the broken one remember?) little pizzas that were quite filling.  I would have had some unsweetened tea with it but sadly there wasn’t any so I just had a glass of diet coke.  Nice and filling little lunch.

For my snack later I wanted to try some Greek yogurt.  I added some apple slices to maybe make it taste a little better and really didn’t care for it honestly.  I like the yogurt with the fruit on the bottom.  At least I tried it right? It wasn’t horrible or anything but just not my thing I guess.

Top favorite horror movies

Posted by: littlepinky82 on: October 30, 2010

So I thought since it’s Halloween weekend I would have a special post on my favorite horror movies whether they be from here in the U.S. or Japan or Korea.  So here they are in no specific order.

Audition-  This is probably my favorite horror movie.  It’s a Japanese horror film from director Takashi Miike.  If you were to put Alfred Hitchock and Wes Craven together as one person it would be Takashi Miike.  This film is one of those you either love or hate.  Some people don’t like it because it’s slow but it does that to tell the story.  The last bit of the movie is what people go for with all the violence and the torture scene.

Suicide Club-  This is a film from Sion Sono.  It’s a very twisted film.  In Japan one day a whole bunch of girls commit suicide in a now famous death scene that I’ll let you watch yourself.  It’s something you’re not going to forget.  It’s a film with over the top blood.  There’s also a tennie bopper pop girl group in the film too that you have to figure out what’s going on with them.  The main cop in this film was also the main guy in “Audition.”  To really understand this film you also have to understand how suicide is taken in Japan.  It’s not illegal which is why you see the main cop try to justify doing an investigation by saying it’s a cult.  If it was a cult it could be classified as murder and thus they could have legit reason’s to investigate.  So understanding the history and current deal with suicide in Japan helps to understand this movie a little more.

One Missed Call-  This film had three series to it and also had a drama series that was pretty good.  There was an English remake but in my opinion it was awful and ruined the original movies.  In the movie it starts off with a girl getting a voice mail on her phone.  She sees it’s from a future date and finds it curious just assuming it’s some sort of technology glitch.  She listen’s to the message and she hears herself and sounds from the background and she hears screaming.  It’s a spirit sending a message of the person’s death.  At first nobody thinks anything of it until people start dying and from there the main girl of the movie tries to save her friends and herself.  The third movie was still the same general concept just different though. It’s still worth seeing just to.

Reincarnation- In this film it’s about a movie being made to recreate a horrible death scene that happened.  A professor took his wife and young children on a little holiday trip in a hotel.  There he went crazy and killed his children.  This movie is about the people who were killed at the hotel and being brought back together. I really enjoyed this film and it was a lot better than what I thought.

Stacy- This is a zombie movie.  It’s about school girls such as junior high age who just start turning into zombies and eating flesh.  People try to stop them. It’s definitely lots of blood and a good bit of violence.  Even some what of a twisted love story. Only in Japan can you see a twisted love story with zombies. It’s definitely worth seeing at least once.

Premonition- This is a Japanese horror film about a business working man who is going on a holiday with his wife and young daughter.  As they’re going he decides to stop at a side pay phone and connect to the internet so he can send in some work.  His wife and daughter are in the car.  While he’s waiting on the connection there’s an awful accident with a big cargo truck.  After that the husband has a few times where he goes back in time and he’s able to make out different out comes.  In the end he learns a very difficult lesson that sometimes instead of changing the past we have to accept it no matter how awful it is for us and learn from it but don’t look back because if we do try to change the past it could bring us and/or our loved one’s even more painful outcomes.   It was quite a good movie I thought and you really feel for the father and what all he goes through and the lesson he so painfully has to learn.  Sandra Bullock did an English remake but I haven’t had the chance to see it yet so I don’t know how it is, but any movie I’ve seen with her has always been great.

Cello- This is a Korean film about a woman who is a really great cello player.  Her daughter starts wanting to play and the cello starts taking control over the daughter and eventually the mother.

Tale of Two Sisters- This is a Korean film that did have an English remake called “The Uninvited” which was a pretty decent remake.  It’s about a girl who ends up in a psych ward after something dreadful happens.  She doesn’t remember everything but has dreams.  Finally after getting therapy she’s able to return home.  Her father remarried and she thinks the new step-mother is sinister. I loved this movie how it really surprised you.  When you think you know what’s going on you are totally shocked by what really happened in the story.

Bloody Reunion-  This is about some students who are gathered together to reunite with a beloved teacher after so many years.  She’s really sick so everyone got together at a cabin on the beach for a weekend.  This movie at first looked really boring but it’s definitely with a lot of shock value and a good twist at the end.  Are they really there to see their beloved and sick teacher? Is she really as kind as everyone seems to remember?

As for as English films go now days I just don’t care for any horror films.  I love the “Final Destination” films.  Those are pretty good.  I like the 80s stuff like “A Nightmare on Elm St” and “Halloween” and “Hellraiser” movies.

Well I hope you reading take the chance to see some J-horror films.  There’s lots out there worth seeing.  Some really amazing and crazy stuff.

Just loving fall

Posted by: littlepinky82 on: October 22, 2010

So fall around here so far has been pretty nice.  Sometimes it’s a bit cool but it’s mostly in the evenings.  I so far haven’t had to get out my comforters yet for my bed.  School has been going fine.  Just going through everything.  Within the last two weeks I got this little card in the mail from my college reminding about getting in the form in for graduating/transferring so I got in touch with my adviser and met up with him last Friday.  I sadly won’t be going over to the University until after next spring.  See when I was in high school we didn’t have to have a foreign language.  That began the class after mine.  So I never got a credit for a foreign language.  I did take Latin in my sophomore year but I was ten pts with failing.  The teacher said if I had waited til I was a senior I would have done fine because I needed more English.  I’m doing Spanish (beginning) this term and it’s going fine.  I totaled my current score and if I didn’t miss anything in the math I currently have a 78 which is a C which is what you need to pass.  My science class is going fine.  I almost have a 70. There’s a lot of work left to do so I’ll be fine.

My adviser mentioned last term a few people from my major went over to the university and had a few problems with the form you have to fill out for some reason so he wanted to go a head and fill it out now and I took it over to the records office so they’ll have it saved on file for me so I don’t have to worry about that.  :) All I have to do now is the Spanish class and another criminal justice class next spring and I’ll be ready to go over to University.  I need forty hours and I figured if both summers I do four classes and in the spring/fall I do three I should be done by the summer of 2012 which is good because a place I’m interested in will start taking applications that year.  I don’t have to do an internship either which I found out.  I will have to do an exit exam before going to the university.  It’s just to see how things are going with the school and to see how students are learning etc.  So if you do bad on one subject for some reason (like you haven’t had it in a while or something)  you won’t graduate or anything (aka it’s not graded).  So that takes a lot of pressure off. :)

Besides just doing school stuff nothing else has been going on.  Just getting through this term.  :)   I was out doing an errand today and went with my mother since she wanted to stop by Best Buy and see what was wrong with her Ipod. Some green screen will sometimes show.  It’ll still play but it just has the green screen.  My Ipod is that first generation that came out so I have no clue about any of that.  My Ipod still works great for it being a good few yrs old.  The battery life still works great and when I charge it up it takes no time at all.  So my mother is going to go by Radio Shack (she bought her IPod there)  sometime this weekend and see about it.  It’s her birthday Sunday so if she needs a new one that’s her choice for her bday present.  Also at Best Buy I was going to see about getting my favorite horror movie “Audition.” It’s a Japanese classic. Best Buy used to have a very large movie section including a horror section and within that an Asian horror section.  Sadly now they don’t have a very large movie section anymore.  They do have a good little Blu-ray section however.  I don’t have a Blu-ray player since for things like that I like to wait a few yrs before buying to see if it’ll last.

I remember there was another player that was sorta like a Blu-Ray and it only lasted a few yrs, so I don’t want to get a player and then not be able to use it like I do my VCR and DVD player (yeah I still use a VCR).  Well in the horror section I found “A Nightmare on Elm St” 5-8 (which includes the “New Nightmare” and “Freddy vs Jason”).  It was only $10 which I thought was pretty good for four movies in one! So I grabbed that up. :) Now I have all of them which makes me a happy camper.  They’re my fav North American horror movies for sure. So this weekend is just going to be working on some assignments and studying for my science exam and celebrating my mother’s bday on Sunday.

Back to school & stuff

Posted by: littlepinky82 on: September 8, 2010

So not too much to update.  I’ve been back in school now for two weeks.  I’m taking beginning Spanish and Environmental Science. Both are online classes and I got lucky with that.  I was surprised with the Spanish class actually.  It’s been going well.  I like it cause you have two weeks to complete the assignments so you don’t have to worry about rushing too much but still gotta stay on schedule of course.  I like not having to worry about getting up at a certain time and to get to a class room and all.  It’s just so nice!

I caught a cold early Sunday morning.  When I went to bed it was so stuffy in my room I had to leave my ceiling fan on.  I left it on the lowest rotation so I figured that would be okay and I had covers on and all and when I woke up Sunday morning I just felt awful.  I’m now feeling better even if I do still have some sniffles.  I can breathe again at least haha.  Last weekend was my father’s birthday and it was nice.  We went to a nice restaurant he likes and Thursday-Saturday afternoon my parents went camping.  It was a nice little get away and my father enjoys camping (tents).

I did go shopping today at Target and got some nice and cute shirts for this time of the year and some nice black dress pants.  I’m not buying too many pants now days since I am losing weight.  That’s been going well.  I’ve been using Jay Johnson as a trainer again and doing the cardio routine from his boot camp.  It’s been going well.  I can now do the jumping jacks fine and my breathing isn’t so hard and long anymore.  It’s still somewhat hard at the end of the routine which is about 14 or so min’s long.  My stomach has been changing again I’ve noticed where I’m not eating so much anymore.  I get full quicker which is nice. :)

Well there just isn’t too much going on now. I’m just sad that pretty soon HBO’s “True Blood” will be finished with this season. :( It’s been a great third season! I’m happy they’re coming back for two more season’s.  At least when this season is over I can read the second book in my leisure time.  It’s good though that some of my favorite shows will come back soon.  Like “Big Bang Theory,” “Ncis” and the spin-off.  So I’m looking forward to that. :-D   So just wanted to update for a little bit more.  Oh and my favorite Korean pop girl group is coming back tomorrow so just want to say to support 2ne1! 2ne1 fighting!

Just staying cool

Posted by: littlepinky82 on: July 28, 2010

So it’s been a little while since I’ve updated and thought I would do so.  Lately here it’s been so hot! In the 90′s and just stuffy as well.  So a week ago today was my 28th birthday.  It was a really nice one.  :) That Friday early evening I went out with a group of friends for dinner and we just enjoyed each others company.  Where did we go? Steak n Shake.   Since I’ve been losing weight and changing my diet some what my stomach can’t hold too much food so I just got the chicken fingers (four) and fries.  So good! All my friends ended up eating late lunches so they just got shakes.  I almost got one to go but I was so full and it was pretty hot so I was worried that it might melt in my car on the way home and be a big mess. The friend I baked the cupcakes for she gave me a Yankee candle that smells like birthday cake.  So love it.  It’s here on my desk now.  And my friend Amanda (another one not the one I’ve mentioned here before) paid for my meal (it was just $5).  :)   That Saturday my family and I went to our favorite Chinese restaurant.  My father isn’t really into Asian food like me, but he told me last year he really enjoyed that place so I was surprised.  So we all love this place and always get the same thing.  They have this dinner for four and it has sweet and sour pork, ginger chicken, beef, shrimp and rice.  And you get a big egg roll, soup and rice (white or fried).  It was oh so good.

Earlier in the late afternoon my father and I went to Best Buy to get my birthday gift.  A new laptop! I decided to get a Samsung. My phone is from them and I love it so I decided to try this brand for a computer instead of Gateway again just to try something different.  I wish I could have got an Apple but all my games and programs are in PC so I don’t want to have to buy them again.  Too expensive especially all my Sims 2 stuff.  It’s a really great computer with 4GB and Windows 7.  Very nice and fast.

Sunday we had a lunch together and my father grilled steaks (delicious), potatoes and I had this pasta salad stuff I love.  It was so good.  This year my mother baked me a cake and it was the same as the cupcakoes I baked for my friend back earlier this year.  I love that batter so good and moist just really good.  I had my share of it all and couldn’t eat all of it.  Nothing else too exciting has been going on here with me.  Just enjoying summer.  “True Blood” has been amazing this season.  Oh wow.  I have finished finally the first book.  I have started on the second one but haven’t been reading too much of it lately.  I don’t want to spoil this season for myself too.  I’m not sure where we’re going on vacation if we are.  My parents haven’t mentioned anything lately.

Oh something that is pretty exciting is there is a movie filming here right now.  It’s the movie Robert Pattison (“Twilight”) is filming at two historical places here.  I won’t say where because it will definitely give away where I live.  But he’s here this week filming his new movie.  Something with “Elephant” in the title? I can’t remember the whole title since I briefly saw it last night looking for information about his being here for a friend of mine.  He’s here all this week filming.  It’s pretty exciting.
